Radio module for remote water meter reading
The Apator LOR7 reads a compatible mechanical water meter and sends its readings to a metering system through a LoRaWAN gateway. Three optical sensors detect indicator rotation and water flow direction. The module mounts directly on a prepared Master+ or Master C+ meter register.
Metering system features
· LoRaWAN transmission through a compatible gateway. Readings are forwarded to the metering-system server.
· External 3 dBi antenna. This distinguishes the LOR7 from the LOR6 with its internal antenna.
· Optical reading and flow direction detection. Reverse flow can be recorded.
· Daily storage in internal memory. Data remains stored in the module during temporary radio outages.
· Wireless M-Bus backup protocol. Its use must be configured for compatible reading equipment.
· Event monitoring. Magnetic interference, module disconnection, optical sensor faults, low battery voltage and flow outside Q1 and Q4.
Water meter compatibility
The LOR6 / LOR7 datasheet specifies prepared Apator Powogaz JS and JS90 6.3–16 Master+ and Master C+ water meters in DN25, DN32 and DN40. Cold or hot water use depends on the corresponding meter version. Send the full meter designation or a dial photograph to check compatibility before ordering.
Operation in a LoRaWAN network
Server connectivity requires a compatible gateway, LoRaWAN coverage and a configured metering platform. The LOR series product sheet lists OTAA activation and the EU863–870 frequency plan. The LOR6 / LOR7 datasheet specifies two normal transmissions per day. Additional manual transmissions are available. Wireless M-Bus backup reading requires prior configuration.
Frequently asked questions
How does the LOR7 differ from the LOR6? The LOR7 has an external antenna with 3 dBi gain. The LOR6 has an internal antenna.
Does the module send readings directly to the internet? LoRaWAN readings pass through a gateway and a configured data collection system.
Does the module support Wireless M-Bus? Yes. The datasheet allows this backup protocol to be configured. Agree the receiver and configuration separately.
How long does the battery last? The LOR6 / LOR7 datasheet specifies at least 10 years. Actual service life depends on the settings and operating conditions.

Installation and ordering
Fit the module to the clean, prepared meter register until it locks into the corresponding slots. Qualified personnel must install and configure the module without altering the meter construction or its sealing.
The enclosure is rated IP68. Check radio reception at the installation site. Module operating temperature and the meter water-temperature limit are separate specifications.
