Woltman meter for cold water consumption measurement
The Apator Powogaz MWN 40 measures cold water volume in distribution networks, apartment-building metering installations, industrial facilities and commercial premises. This Woltman meter has its turbine axis parallel to the pipeline. A magnetic coupling transfers rotation to the dry register, which displays accumulated volume in cubic metres.
Benefits for your metering system
· DN40 flow ratings. Permanent flow Q3 is 25 m³/h and overload flow Q4 is 31.25 m³/h.
· R100 measuring ratio. Minimum flow Q1 is 0.25 m³/h and transitional flow Q2 is 0.4 m³/h.
· Easy reading. The register can be rotated through up to 358° to make the dial accessible.
· Coated cast-iron body. A removable measuring insert supports servicing of the meter.
· Remote reading options. Compatible optical or induction modules can collect readings. Appropriately prepared versions also support NK reed-switch or NO optoelectronic transmitters.
Applications and version selection
The MWN 40 version has a DN40 nominal diameter and a 200 mm installation length. Select the meter using minimum and operating flow rates as well as pipe diameter. Confirm temperature class T30 or T50, flange drilling and the reading method. The maximum admissible pressure is 16 bar; verify the flange connection dimensions separately.
Remote meter reading
For remote collection, select the register version and compatible reading equipment. The NK transmitter produces reed-switch pulses. Optical and induction clip-on modules provide the selected communication interface. The installed module determines the radio protocol, stored data, events and power supply.
Frequently asked questions
Does the meter need a power supply? The mechanical MWN measures and displays water volume without an external power supply. The power requirements of an additional communication module depend on its model.
What is the NK pulse value? MWN 40 supports 10 or 100 L/pulse, depending on the prepared register configuration. The appropriate prepared register and IP65 NK transmitter are required. Confirm the pulse value from the marking and package documentation, then match it in the receiving device.
Which installation positions are supported? The manufacturer specifies H and V positions. Follow the flow-direction arrow, keep the meter fully filled with water and meet the installation requirements in the operating manual.

Ordering and package contents
When ordering, specify MWN 40, the temperature class, flange drilling and required output. Agree the transmitter, module and mounting parts in the package specification.
The meter is rated MAP16. Catalogue flange drilling is PN16 as standard. Match the connection dimensions to the pipeline flanges.
Order an MWN 40 for your metering installation. Provide the operating flow rate, pipeline size, water temperature and required reading method to select the version
